CORBEL webinars include an audience Q&A session during which attendees can ask questions and make suggestions.

Towards a GDPR Code of Conduct for Health Research: where are we today?

On 25 May 2019, exactly one year after the GDPR came into force with direct effect in the EC Member States, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) will publish its final Guidelines 1/2019 on Codes of Conduct and Monitoring Bodies under Regulation 2016/679. The Guidelines will specify the how, including how to seek approval and monitor the code’s adherence. The GDPR Code of Conduct for Health Research initiative is aiming for a sector specific code in the area of health. It shall help to demonstrate GDPR compliance and to navigate across the various national country derogations that apply for health research related data transfer. Genomics and clinical data at your fingertips with open-source software: tranSMART & cBioPortal

The CORBEL webinar series continues with a presentation by Jan-Willem Boiten, programme manager at Lygature and Menno de Vries, data manager at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. The propelling importance of genomics data in present-day health research is not yet supported with user-friendly software solutions that expose these data in a manner easily appreciated by clinical researchers. Clearly, there is a need for tools that integrate genomics and other molecular biology results with the phenotypic and clinical outcome data. This webinar presents an overview of such data tools that are used in the Dutch context and how they have been implemented in practice, including projects that are supported by CORBEL WP3. West-Life: Lessons learnt from developing a virtual research environment

Status Update on the Code of Conduct for Health Research Initiative

5 June 2018 - 15:30 CEST

The EU General Data Protection Regulation comes into force on 25 May 2018, with direct effect in the EC Member States. In its Article 40, it specifies that the Commission encourages “the drawing up of codes of conduct intended to contribute to the proper application of this Regulation, taking account of the specific features of the various processing sectors and the specific needs of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.” The BBMRI-ERIC led Code of Conduct for Health Research initiative is committed to such a code, i.e. aiming at contributing to the proper application of the regulation. The aim of the webinar is to present the initiative and give an update on current achievements. Single sign-on for Life Science services

CORBEL WP5 has specified Life Science AAI, a common service for authenticating researchers and helping the Life Science services to manage their access rights. The Life Science AAI relieves the relying services of managing the researchers’ user accounts and reduces the number of login credentials researchers need in their work.
