Screening Unit and Medicinal Chemistry group, Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie, FMP

Berlin, Germany

General information

The FMP Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie in Berlin is currently coordinating the activities of the EU-OPENSCREEN headquarter and provides access to state-of-the-art screening facilities and has strong expertise in Medicinal Chemistry. Its mission is to facilitate access to chemical compound libraries as well as to biological assays and support visitors as well as in-house scientists in performing chemical screens - from the initial idea to the optimized hit compound.

Expertise

We offer long-standing expertise in the setup and implementation of chemical screens and subsequent hit-to-lead optimization. We work closely with collaborating chemists and biologists and provide support throughout the entire screening workflow, including advice during the initial assay development phase, adaptation of the final assay for our high-throughput screening platforms, implementation of the chemical screen, data analysis, statistical testing, and selection of the appropriate hits for further validation and chemical optimization towards a chemical tool.

Technologies offered for the Open Call

- Access to high-throughput screening
- Access to our in-house chemical compound library

Additional resources offered for the Open Call

- Advice during experimental design and initial assay setup
- Advice during miniaturization of the assay for high-throughput screening
- Data processing and analysis
- Statistical testing
- Advice for hit selection and validation/ confirmation

Access modalities

Close interaction during assay development phase.
Once the assay has been set up, our staff sets up and performs the chemical screen.
Data analysis is performed in close collaboration with the user.

Scientific and technical requirements

For biologists: A biological assay at an advanced stage that might need some optimization prior to screening is required.
In addition, chemists can donate their compounds to the library without loss of their IP.

Website

Due to a high demand for projects involving EU-OPENSCREEN screening resources in the first submission rounds of the 2nd CORBEL Open Call, there are no capacities for additional EU-OPENSCREEN projects available in CORBEL anymore.
