West-Life: Lessons learnt from developing a virtual research environment

23 October 2018 - 15:30 CEST

The West-Life project is a Horizon 2020 project funded by the European Commission to provide data processing and data management services for structural biology, in particular to support integrative methods. It has developed important enhancements to existing web services for structure solution and analysis, new pipelines to link these services into more complex higher-level workflows, and new data management facilities. Through this work it has made the benefits of European e-Infrastructures more accessible to life-science researchers in general and structural biologists in particular. The presentation will discuss some lessons learned along the way. More...

Status Update on the Code of Conduct for Health Research Initiative

5 June 2018 - 15:30 CEST

The EU General Data Protection Regulation comes into force on 25 May 2018, with direct effect in the EC Member States. In its Article 40, it specifies that the Commission encourages “the drawing up of codes of conduct intended to contribute to the proper application of this Regulation, taking account of the specific features of the various processing sectors and the specific needs of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.” The BBMRI-ERIC led Code of Conduct for Health Research initiative is committed to such a code, i.e. aiming at contributing to the proper application of the regulation. The aim of the webinar is to present the initiative and give an update on current achievements. A first section of the code will be released soon for comments, a public consultation of the full code will expectantly start in late 2018. More...

Quality Management in distributed Research Infrastructures

22 May 2018 - 15:30 CEST

Quality Management enables organisations to deliver value by fulfilling the needs and expectations of relevant interested parties. Research infrastructures are user and service oriented organisations, hence quality management systems can help them to identify quality objectives and to identify the processes and resources required to meet them. This webinar will address some of the specific requirements and challenges for implementing quality management systems in distributed research infrastructures. More...

Single sign-on for Life Science services

17 April 2018 - 14:30 CET

CORBEL WP5 has specified Life Science AAI, a common service for authenticating researchers and helping the Life Science services to manage their access rights. The Life Science AAI relieves the relying services of managing the researchers’ user accounts and reduces the number of login credentials researchers need in their work. During the winter, the Life Science AAI has been deployed for a pilot in the e-infrastructure coordinated AARC2 project. The webinar will present the Life Science AAI, the pilot and the future plans.
